Audrey “Kandy” Reffett, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, July 29, 2020.
Kandy was born August 17, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She enjoyed many years living in Florida with her husband and children before moving to Michigan with her daughter.
She immediately got involved in the community. She joined the Moose Lodge and enjoyed being part of all the activities and events. One of her favorite events was the Barry County Chamber of Commerce Hastings Christmas Parade which she helped plan and organize.
Before making the hard decision to retire this past month, she worked for many years at the Barry County Sheriff’s Department. She loved her job immensely and her co-workers were like family.
Kandy loved living in “Small Town U.S.A.”. One of her favorite things to do was drive through downtown Hastings and ride the Holly Trolley. She was an avid lover of campfires and frequently enjoyed them with family and friends at her home. Kandy “Grammy” got a lot of pleasure spending time with her grandkids doing crafts, playing games and putting puzzles together.
Angels who were waiting to greet here were her parents, Julius and Audrey Kuehnle; her husband, Jerry Wittmeyer; and brother-in-law, Tom Williams.
Kandy is survived by her children, Jimmy (Joanna) Waltz in Seattle, WA; daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Olin; grandchildren, Henrietta, Frances and baby Waltz expected soon, Maylee Alyssa and Shawny Olin; sisters, Karen, Kathy, Kim (Glenn) Kris and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Per Kandy’s wishes, no service will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
