Terry Kohn

Terry Kohn, age 72, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2020. Terry was born on March 7, 1948 in Van Wert, OH to Floyd and Gladys (Breyer) Kohn. He married his sweetheart Teresa (Bowman) Kohn on October 24, 1970, who survives. Terry was a proud Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam era. Most of his life he worked two jobs at a time, to support his family. He worked as a barber, construction worker and factory worker. He ended his career as a quality control manager in the automotive industry. He was also a volunteer fireman. Terry lived in the moment and loved a good adventure. After retirement he dedicated his time to his family and hobbies. Terry enjoyed working in the garage refinishing furniture and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing. His grandchildren adored him, and he adored them. No matter what, Terry always showed up for his family. His grandson said it best, “Grandpa always makes you feel important”. He was very charismatic and genuine. He cared about people and he took the time to listen and help others. He was always able to see the brighter side of life and he enjoyed each day. To honor him look for the things in life that you are grateful for and always show up for your family. Even on his worst days he never complained or got frustrated. He always made people laugh. Recently he said that his back was itchy, because his wings were starting to sprout. Now he has his wings. Terry is survived by his children, Tanya (Perry) Martin of Hastings, Tracy (Steve) Vandermade of Belmont, and Trent Kohn of Hastings; sister, Bonnie Gribler of Goodyear, AZ; grandchildren, Taylor Gould, Tanner Gould, Court Vandermade, Brandon Thomas, Glenn Kohn, Kaiden Kohn, Abby Kohn; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Cleo, Adaline, Violet and Tate; sister-in-law, Janice Kohn; brother-in-law, Gary (Val) Bowman; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gladys (Breyer) Kohn; brothers, Max, Bob and Jerry and sisters, Billie, Juanita and Genelle. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Lauer Funeral Home, and funeral at 2 p.m. Pastor Roger Claypool will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Terry’s life.
