George Richard London


George Richard London, age 84, of Middleville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 20, 2020. George was born on June 19, 1936, in Royal Oak, the son of Hazen and Minnie (Robinson) London. On April 19, 1962 in Onondaga, George married the love of his life, the former Edna M. Straub, who survives, and together they shared 58 wonderful years. George was a teacher and coach at Saranac Schools for many years before becoming a park naturalist for the State of Michigan. “Ranger George”, as many young people knew him, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed giving park tours. After retirement, George was the Supervisor for Yankee Springs Township and Irving Township and was very active in the community as a whole. He served over 50 years as a MHSAA official for many different sports and had the honor for 40 years as an official with the same football crew. George is also survived by his children, Steve (Lori) London, LuAnn (Greg) Tandy, Stewart (Melissa) London, Diana (John) Servatius; daughter-in-law, Gay London; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Rowena Spencer, Lois London, Ruth Middleton; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. George was preceded in death by his parents; son, David London; and siblings, Laura, Alice, and Willie. George’s family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville. A private funeral service will be celebrated.
