Carole S. Sutfin, age 79, of Maple Grove Township, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at her home. Carole was born in Kalamazoo, on October 8, 1940, the daughter of the late Harold and Rosemary (O’Rourke) Guilfoyle. She was raised in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas and attended St. Philip Catholic Schools and graduated from Hasting High School. On September 20, 1957 she married Albert M. Sutfin in Battle Creek. The couple began their lives together in the Battle Creek area, relocating to their home in Maple Grove Township in 1969 where they raised their family together. While her family was growing, Carole enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. After her family had grown, Carole was employed with Interbake Foods and worked for Lawrence E. Youse, D.D.S. Carole loved shopping, attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and wintering in Arizona with her husband. Carole is survived by her beloved husband Albert of nearly 63 years. She is also survived by her five children, Douglas (Mary Anne Rekuta) Sutfin, Deborah (Douglas) Curey, Gregory Sutfin, Mark Sutfin all of Nashville and Carla (Clifford) Hickman of Battle Creek. She is survived by two brothers Charles (Catherine) Guilfoyle of Kalamazoo, James Guilfoyle of Battle Creek and a sister Shirley (Dennis) Hubbard of Florida. Carole has 12 wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly Douglas Curey Jr., Ashley Broderick, Brian Sutfin, Travis Curey, Brooke Beimers, Hayley Sherman, Brandon Sutfin, Brandi Holden, Joshua Sutfin, Holly Hickman, Kaitlynn Hickman and Brody Hickman and 15 precious great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Guilfoyle and a sister Mary P. Brandt. Funeral services to celebrate Carole’s life were held at Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 with Father Stephan Philip officiating. Interment took place immediately following the funeral service at Wilcox Cemetery, Maple Grove Township with a luncheon that followed at the Maple Grove Community Building 721 Durkee St. Nashville.
