Sarah Anne Miller, age 94, passed quietly away on September 6, 2020 at 6:55 p.m., while in the care of Elana Caring Hospice at the Elizabeth Adult Assisted Living home in Saranac.
She was born to Barbara (Near) Miller and Ammon Miller, Sr. on July 25, 1926 in Lake Odessa. She graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1944.
She was a member of Hope Church of the Brethren in Freeport and served several years in the Brethren Volunteer Service. She began her career by working with the children at Mary Free Bed Children’s’ Hospital and from there went to St. Mary’s Hospital as a secretary. She then became a valued secretary at Baker Furniture in Grand Rapids until retirement.
After retirement, she traveled extensively with her favorite cousin Gloria Bentley, including Nigeria, Australia, and Africa. She also enjoyed several trips with her brother Ammon and sister-in-law Violet.
She is survived by her brother, Ammon S. Miller, Mr. (Violet); two nephews, James Miller and Kip Miller and one niece, Julie (Miller) Barker.
She was predeceased by her parents and one niece, Kristine (Miller) Warf.
A very special Thank You to Robin Martin of the Elizabeth Adult Assisted Living home at 6560 McKendry Rd., Saranac for all of her loving care these last several years. Also, to the kindness of the Hospice organization.
Sarah was a registered body donor at the University of Michigan Medical School and in 1973 signed up with the Anatomical Donation Program. So according to her wishes, Koops Funeral Home in Lake Odessa has taken care of the transportation to the UofM.
