Less than one in five shots fell for the Galesburg-Augusta Rams against visiting Delton Kellogg Friday night.

The Panthers closed out the regular season with a  36-18 win over the Galesburg-Augusta varsity girls' basketball team (9-12) in Southwestern Athletic Conference Valley Division play.

The Delton Kellogg girls finish off an 11-9 regular season with the win, and were set to open postseason play in the Division 3 District Semifinals against Hackett Catholic Prep last night at Kalamazoo Christian High School. The Fighting Irish won both their regular season match-ups in SAC Valley play this season.

The ballgame Friday was a bit ugly on both sides. DK led the Rams 19-3 at the half, then saw the Rams go on a bit of a run in the third quarter to make it a ballgame. DK responded to push its lead back to 13 points by the end of the third quarter.

Holly McManus had 17 points and Erin Kapteyn 12 for the Panthers, and Mary Whitmore had two points to go along with her team-high nine rebounds.

DK head coach Mike Mohn said his team winning four of its final five ballgames of the regular season provides a nice boost headed into the postseason. The Panthers won their final three ballgames, besting Lawton and Lakewood before G-A.

DK ends the SAC Valley season with a 6-6 conference record.
