The Panthers didn't disappoint the Winterfest crowd at Delton Kellogg High School Friday night.
The Delton Kellogg varsity boys' basketball team improved to 3-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Valley Division with a 59-20 win over visiting Galesburg-Augusta.
“We really came out with a lot of energy and effort and it showed in the score,” Delton Kellogg head coach Jason Howland said. “I told the team we had to work harder on the defensive end of the court, because when we do it provides us with the opportunity to score on the offensive end. We like to push the ball, so if we can get stops it allows us to get out and run and get easy buckets.”
The effort worked to the tune of a 45-8 halftime lead for the hosts.
Cole Pape led the Panthers with 22 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Rench put in 11 points.
“I was proud of our energy, we had a gym full with spectators due to our snow court festivities and we were able to feed of the atmosphere and get a good win for those who made it out to watch,” Howland said.
Delton Kellogg returns to SAC Valley action Friday at Hackett Catholic Prep in Kalamazoo.
The DK boys are 6-6 overall on the season after falling 59-51 in a SAC crossover at Martin Tuesday.
