Third public hearing added to planning commission agenda
Hastings' Planning Commission has added a third hearing to its 7 p.m. March 2 meeting in the city council chambers.
The hearing will involve a proposed project involving a house at 410 West State St. and the pharmacy at 400 West State St.
Hastings Community Development Director Dan King said the plan is to tear down the residential building which he referred to as “Mary’s Hair and Nails,” located to the west of the pharmacy. Then, an extension of the pharmacy would be built in place of the residential building.
The addition would be a two-story structure encompassing 2,700 square feet between both floors of the building. It would be utilized for either an expansion of the pharmacy or office space for a new company.
King listed other potential uses for the extension as “generic,” such as business planning, accounting, or other financial purposes.
The plan calls for a shared wall between the pharmacy and the building extension, but King said he is not sure if there would be a shared door or if there would be two separate doors.
There also is plan to demolish an old residence currently on the lot. A final site plan will be reviewed and discussed at the meeting on March 2nd.
