Thornapple Wind Band opens season Friday

The Thornapple Wind Band will open the 2018-19 concert season with a pops concert Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the commons area at Hastings Middle School.

Popular pieces will be presented from the 1980s, hits from The Association, the Tijuana Brass, themes from James Bond movies, and a more recent hit, “Africa.”

The band also will host guest performing group the Duran Brothers, a local band that performs popular songs around the area.

The Thornapple Wind Band is an adult band of approximately 50 members from Barry and surrounding counties. Adult musicians rehearse Thursday nights and perform concerts for the community. Concerts are family-friendly, and admission is free. A freewill donation will be collected to help cover costs. A free "meet the musicians" reception will follow the concert with refreshments.

TWB is always looking for new members, and anyone interested should speak with one of the members during the reception. More information about the band can be found online at thornapplewindband.org.
