Golf Guys recently donated $3,480 to the YMCA youth golf program for the 10th consecutive year. The most recent donation of $3,480 brings its 10-year total to more than $32,000.

Golf Guys is a group of 36 local golfers who for the past 20 years have traveled annually to Northern Michigan for a four-day golf outing.

Ron Martin and Ray Rose are chairmen of the group. The donations are made in memory of former members Keith Meaney and Greg Thompson, who died in 2010. Their passion for the game was the driving force behind the YMCA donation.

The generosity of Golf Guys has enabled the purchase of sets of golf clubs for the YMCA, funded golf scholarships for youth, and allowed the YMCA of Barry County to expand its program to multiple age groups.

“The Golf Guys have been incredible to the YMCA of Barry County, and their unsolicited generosity humbles us,” CEO/Executive Director Jon Sporer said. “This is a great group of guys, with very kind hearts, and we are extremely thankful to be associated with them.”

The YMCA presented three members of Golf Guys with awards for their long-standing commitment to the outing.
