Preparation is Memorial Day tradition

Last Thursday, Riverside Cemetery in Hastings was green. By that evening, veterans' graves were bedecked with red, white and blue, courtesy of Hastings scouts and high school football players. The cemetery is ready for the Lawrence J. Bauer American Legion Post 45 annual Memorial Day parade May 27. Every year, young people take responsibility for placing the flags. Scouts decorate veterans' graves in a much-appreciated tradition. Here, Felicity Eddy from Delton, a member of Cub Scout Pack 3175 in Hastings, is among the group who decorated the gravesy. And this year, for the first time, Hastings High School football players helped out. They said they felt a part of something bigger than themselves.
