Freeport woman dies in two-car collision
A 53-year-old Freeport woman, Lori A. Russell, died Friday as a result of injuries sustained in a two-car collision on the Fourth of July.
The crash occurred at the corner of Eckert and Wood School roads in Irving Township Thursday, according to the Barry County Sheriff's office.
Sheriff's deputies said Russell was eastbound at 2:14 p.m. on Eckert Road in a Dodge Caravan, when a Dodge Journey failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the Caravan.
The Journey was driven by a 55-year-old man who had three passengers, ages 48, 54 and 53, all women from Battle Creek.
Russell was airlifted to an area hospital and the occupants of the Caravan were taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The crash is under investigation by the county sheriff's office.
